Mrs. Goethel’s Congo Squares

INGREDIENTS

CONGO SQUARES
3 eggs
2 ¾ cups flour
2 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup buts (chopped)
1 package chocolate chips
1 tsp. vanilla
SHORTENING MIX
¾ cup shortening
1 box brown sugar

PREPARATION


Heat oven to 350 degrees.

CONGO SQUARES
One at a time, add eggs to shortening mix; beating after each one. Add dry ingredients and blend well.

Pour mixture into a 13 x 9 baking dish;

COOKING


SHORTENING MIX
Melt shortening; add brown sugar and cool.

CONGO SQUARES
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool, cut into squares and serve.
